President Erdoğan’s visit to the Russian Federation
President Erdoğan paid a visit to St.Petersburg on 9 August 2016 upon the invitation of President Putin of the Russian Federation. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also accompanied President Erdoğan during the visit. In the meetings, bilateral relations between Turkey and the Russian Federation as well as regional and international issues were discussed.
Speaking at the joint press conference after his meeting with President Putin, President Erdoğan stated that decisions have been taken to move Turkey-Russia relations to their rightful level in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, and that Ankara-Moscow line will become a line of trust and friendship again. Furthermore, addressing Turkish and Russian businessmen with President Putin, President Erdoğan underlined the goal of increasing bilateral trade volume to 100 billion dollars.
